Whether you want to just change the rims on a truck you found or you want to build your own fantasy farmland, modding is the way to go with Farming Simulator 19. The biggest question I see routinely in groups is “who do I get started?” Here are three tutorials that I recommend:
- The Basics of Giants Editor
-If what you want to do is learn how to use the tools of modding, you don’t have to jump in with a 3D editor immediately. Giants Software, the creators of the Farming Simulator series, have a tool called Giants Editor that allows you to work on in-game models as well as mods. Here’s a tutorial from Lambo Mods on how to make basic changes in that editor.
2. Map Making
-If you are looking to edit an existing map or make one from scratch, there are a lot of little nuances to learn. I recommend spending a bit of time putting your own spin on Ravenport or Felsbrunn before venturing into some of the big time maps from the modding community. Start small and then you can build up to making that DREAM farm. Here’s a tutorial from Noobster Gaming that will help you get started:
3. Fixing Errors in Mods
-If you have been using mods in FS19 for any length of time, you’re used to seeing errors. Oftentimes people make quick and informal edits to mods, creating line after line of errors in the logs. If some of these errors are driving you crazy, consider learning a bit about editing the mods within the code (rather than merely for cosmetics). Here’s a tutorial to help with common mod errors (either your own or someone else’s) from WhalenEdits:
Thanks for reading! Hopefully these guides help to kickstart your modding career. If you have any mod recommendations for me to consider playing on my YouTube channel, feel free to leave a comment.
